Donald Adams, 84, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away, May 18, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospitals. Donald Adams donated his body for scientific purposes to the University of Iowa. Memorial services for Donald Adams will be 10:30 am Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the First Church of God, 115 Indiana Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa, with Reverend Stephen Acheson officiating. Memorials may be directed to the family c/o his wife: Winifred Adams, 1314 Siloam Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. The Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Donald Luverne Adams was born August 16, 1927, at his grandparents farm at Blairsburg, Iowa, the son of Glen Evert and Myrtle Marie [Mullins] Adams. He attended grade schools in Iowa Falls, Newell, Metlock, and Sheldon, Iowa. He graduated from the Sheldon High School with the class of 1945. On November 14, 1943 Donald was united in marriage to Winifred Ruth Parks at Sheldon, Iowa. To this union four children were born: David, Donald, Cynthia, and Thomas. He worked for the Illinois Central Railroad in Sheldon and Iowa Falls until taking a job with the Iowa Falls Post Office as a mail carrier retiring in 1990. He also worked part time for the Iowa Falls Highway Lumber Co., Dewey Gilbert Construction (helped build Iowa Falls schools and churches) was an insurance agent, worked for Falls Tool Company, and the Iowa Falls Gas Company. He was a member of the First Church of God [serving on its Board of Directors and teaching Sunday school], the American Legion and the National Association of Letter Carriers. He also delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.
Donald L. Adams is survived by his wife: Winifred Adams of Iowa Falls; his children: David [Anna Marie] Adams of Humboldt, Iowa, Wayne Adams of Eldora, Iowa, Cynthia [Norman] King of Sacramento, California, Thomas Adams of Waterloo, Iowa; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and a brother: Robert [Connie] Adams of Spencer, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents: Glen and Marie Adams.
